![]() Through the use of advanced geospatial tools and techniques, DU developed the web application as a tool for landowners, agencies, private industry and conservation organizations to use in identifying immediate threats to coastal marshes and for prioritizing breakwater implementation. ![]() From its initial construction to the current day, the GIWW has widened significantly, in some places to more than 10 times its original width, thus impacting adjacent coastal marshes of ecological and economic importance. However, continued shoreline erosion and alteration or loss of marsh through saltwater intrusion impacts the ability of these wetland systems to support wintering waterfowl populations and other coastal fish and wildlife. The GIWW has federal and state economic importance, as it provides an effective and safe transportation system. This model allows prioritization of conservation efforts and spending." "That's why we developed the breakwater prioritization model to identify the areas most critical for protecting wetlands for waterfowl and other coastal wildlife. "There is a need to protect coastal marsh from erosion along most of the GIWW, but we realize that costs associated with protecting the entire length are considerable," said DU Manager of Conservation Programs Todd Merendino. The leader in wetlands conservation has developed a decision-support tool to prioritize shoreline protection needs along the Texas mid-coast portion of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) and encourages conservation partners and coastal landowners to utilize the newly available science to most efficiently direct wetlands restoration and protection efforts along the Gulf Coast. So far, there's no explicit language, substance use, or sexual content in the game.RICHMOND, Texas - Ducks Unlimited is pleased to announce the availability of its Breakwater Prioritization Report and Web Mapping Application. ![]() There are very occasional encounters with hostile humans also stranded on the islands, and players can choose whether to avoid their territory or defeat them in battle. There are no blood effects, and most of the violence is rather cartoonish, such as a single hit from the player's axe flinging a giant crab a few feet away from the player. As for inappropriate content, players will likely need to engage in combat against hostile animals and monsters they come across throughout their travels. Unlike other games, Breakwaters isnt satisfied with day-night and weather cycles, it stands out for. Players can also collect treasure maps in order to uncover rare items or gold coins needed to progress throughout the game. The other goal is base building, meaning collecting and crafting items to build a fortress that houses the player's items, crafting benches, and food supply. The greater story of Breakwaters involves using the power of colored sea crystals to solve puzzles with the goal of controlling large rock monsters known as "titans," who don't hesitate to attack the player should they get too close. Certain crafting items will only be available if the tides are low enough for the player to reach them, and travel between islands can be more or less difficult depending upon sea level as well. ![]() Beyond that, the unique mechanic in Breakwaters is the ability to control the flow of water. In Breakwaters, players create their own characters using a few customization options and are then dropped on a randomly generated group of islands, with their first tasks being to explore the island and collect resources, manage health and hunger, and learn the basics of combat. While not fully complete, early access means that players can test the game while it is still in development and if purchased, automatically have access to the full game once it is released. Parents need to know that Breakwaters is a survival-crafting game currently in early access for Windows, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. ![]()
